, yes, but if products they sell come from far away (even from the other side of the world), how they can be fully justified as ‘greener, more sustainable, eco-friendlier’? I live in Japan. I always buy lemons, wines from Chile (17,243.73 km from Tokyo), pasta/spaghetti…, olives, can tomato, anchovies, cheese….from Italy (9,845 km from Tokyo), extra virgin olive oil, oregano, dried figs, dried black olives from Turkeiya (8,657 km from Tokyo), dates from Tunisia (10,699 km from Tokyo), grapefruits and oranges from South-Africa (14,186 km from Tokyo), dried beans lentils, chickpeas, red beans…. from United Arab Emirates (8,152 km), coconut flakes, curry….from India (6,082 km from Tokyo), coconut milk from Thailand (4,409 km), jams and chocolate from Belgium, fish from Russia, ice-cubes, frozen blue berries from Canada, peanuts, fresh garlic, hot chilly, from China, sea salt from South Korea, oat milk, almond milk, oat flakes, honey from Australia, butter, yogurt, frozen green-peas from New Zealand, dried noodle from Taiwan, bananas from The Philippines, mineral water from France, chocolate bars from Switzerland, fresh salmon fish from Scandinavian countries, sauerkraut from Germany, cinnamon, biscuits from Sri-Lanka……………………………..why I don’t buy those and many other products produced in Japan? Because they are 50~100~200% more expensive. Only me, I am responsible of tons of CO2 because I buy imported, mostly via air, products. Population in Japan is 123,294,513 people. Eco-friendly? It is only a beautiful composed noun.
You are right. Europe is also likely to cause a shift of many industrial agricultural productions to third countries where environmental rules are less strict. This will cause a significant increase in CO2 emissions and other harmful substances, therefore achieving results contrary to the goals that were set. This among other things will also cause the consumption of food with more substances harmful to health.

Yes, very much so. Low income consumers, buy cheaper products, we don’t care about ‘greener, more sustainable, eco-friendlier’, we care about our thin wallet.
